An LLM-driven study of probabilistic grammar in Chinese learners' German constructional alternations

    Ongoing

    Funding: BFSU university-level project

Working from a usage-based view of language and a probabilistic grammar framework, the project focuses on constructional alternation as a core site of grammatical variability. It studies German learners at Chinese universities, drawing on a large learner corpus of Chinese students' German and using a corpus of German native speakers at a comparable level as reference, in order to examine how learners choose between structures in typical German constructional alternations.
